So how exactly did conservatives go from their economic assumptions to slavery as opportunity? I can name that segue in five steps:
- Wealthy people own businesses.
- Businesses create jobs.
- Southern plantations were businesess.
- Slavery was a government sponsored program plantations used to create jobs for Africans, to the exclusion of Europeans.
- Those jobs provided skills and opportunities Africans would have otherwise never had.
Et voilà, slavery was America's first Affirmative Action program. The left are just upset because the new curriculum credits conservatives with the idea first.
