a blast from the past...
my driver's ed car model circa 1967, pride of Chrysler's sprawling Belvedere, Illinois plant... several empty beer cans of assorted brands were found inside the front fenders when the car was finally "decommissioned". i passed driver's ed with its help and Mr. F. at my side. it was a great car in that if you hit something, (stationary or moving, it didn't matter) you had no way of knowing you had, except the beer cans rattling in all four fenders gave it away. an exchange student from budapest once commented to me that it reminded him of a very large ping pong table or an aircraft carrier. he had a point.
the driving experience was similar to commanding The Gerald R. Ford class aircraft carrier which is the largest aircraft carrier in the world by length.
it got great mileage tho'....about 7 mpg if i remember right.

JUST SAYIN' OPINION COLUMN by Morris Mishegoss, your Ed.
when you retire everyone still in the workforce eventually asks you "what do you do with all your free time?" quizzically, i respond with "what free time?" exactly like the modern American economy, 17% of my time (and even higher percentage, money) is spent on healthcare. 15% of my time is navigating (& lately, fighting) with my healthcare insurance provider and it's partner in torture, abuse and incompetence, the totally broken american healthcare system it feeds on. 14% of my time is being stupid and getting caught in rush hour traffic. and, the rest 33% spent sleeping (god willing.) if my calculator is correct, that leaves me with 21% of my time to do what i want. it was then that one asks oneself: "maybe i should go back to work full time and i'll have more free time?" but, like so many things in life, you just don't ever get around to it, and then you die and you realize that time has no meaning. just sayin'.
